Snack Plate

The Snack Plate is built for grazing done well. Hand-thrown and hand-glazed in our Pune studio, it combines a flat serving area with a neat round dip, so your bites and your sauce live happily together on one clever piece. Finished in a soft white glaze, it looks as good sitting out on the table as it is genuinely useful during a long, relaxed evening of snacking.

What is the little round section for? That built-in round well, about 6.2 cm across and 3.5 cm deep, is made to hold a dip, a chutney, or a sauce right beside your snacks, so nothing spills or slides across the flat part of the plate.

As each plate is shaped and glazed by hand in small batches, the white shifts gently across the surface and the proportions carry a subtle handmade character. No two are ever quite alike, which is exactly the point of choosing something made by a person rather than a mould. It is a thoughtful gift for hosts, and a small pleasure for anyone who loves a proper spread of snacks and dips.

Wash by hand with mild soap to protect the finish, or use the dishwasher when that is easier. It is microwave safe as well, so warming a snack through before serving is no trouble at all.

• Hand-wash with a soft sponge for best results, though it's dishwasher safe too.
• Avoid abrasive scrubbers and harsh chemical cleaners.
• Avoid sudden temperature changes (e.g. freezer straight to microwave).
• Small variations in colour and form are natural, the mark of a handmade piece.
